We Offer: Primary Care

Primary care usually last 28-45 days. During this time, the client's schedule is tailored to fit a precise, individualized treatment plan. This includes both individual and daily intensive therapy group sessions, lectures, education groups and peer-led recovery activities.

Exposure to 12 step self-help support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous and their principles, concepts and fellowship are a regular part of primary care. Step discussion groups are held and written assignments are done daily.

Other important activities include in-house school instruction by state licensed teachers, involvement of home school in education planning and innovative approaches to educating adolescents who are behind in classes or considered to be learning disabled.

Active involvement in recreation has been demonstrated to relate positively to clients in treatment as it improves their ability to manage stressors, improves social interactions, and enhances their sober identity. It also allows them the opportunity to structure their time, improve communication and socialization skills, gain self awareness, practice healthy decision making, and improve mood. Regular recreational therapy opportunities are provided through physical activities; volleyball, basketball, swimming, bowling, and also through mental activities; board games, art projects, chess and card games.

Through our flexible family programming we engage the families from admission through discharge in their child's treatment program. We also encourage their own recovery program, as the disease of addiction impacts all members of the family. We provide an education program with flexible session scheduling to include weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Our family program allows us to tailor the program to meet the needs of the family.

A medallion ceremony celebrates the client's growth with the presentation of a "Camel" pin, signifying sobriety. This ceremony confirms the client has met program and individual goals and has developed a continuing care plan. The program closes with sharing from peers, staff members and parents.
